Hello Brothers and Sisters,

(Continued from home page)Politicians will embrace these declarations to support their efforts to increase access to abortion services, to push for legal same-sex marriage, to destroy human life through embryonic stem cell research, and to cut funding for abstinence education. If there is no God, then why not? If there is no Supreme Authority to listen to or to answer to, then there is no absolute standard for right and wrong. Man becomes the final authority! But before Christians admit defeat and surrender our faith to the mighty power of science, let us consider just a couple important issues. First, let us acknowledge that Stephen Hawking is man of great faith. He has incredible faith that his calculations and conclusions are correct (though unprovable at least in regard to the origins of the universe). To him, the laws of nature and science have become "god" (and just where did these laws come from?). He is willing to put his belief in his research up against the historical record of miracles (recorded in the Old and New Testaments including the life, death, resurrection of Christ). He is willing to deny the life-changing power of Christ that has transformed multitudes through thousands of years. In his human brilliance, Dr. Hawking is blinded to his arrogant foolishness and sinfulness. The Scripture says that God's invisible qualities- his eternal power and divine nature- are clearly seen through the things that have been made (Romans 1:20). Every person has the law of God written on the heart. Our God-given conscience reveals to us that there is right and wrong, and convicts us of breaking God's universal rules (Romans 2:14,15). Scientific truth will never contradict the True and Living God. He created the laws of science! Let us give praise to the Almighty Creator God, who is very much alive to day! He is not only our Creator but Loving Savior! Remember that the day will come when "at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Philippians 2:16,17)

Love in Christ,
 sig

P.S. - PARENTS, consider sharing this article with your children as you prepare for a new school year.

"Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe." 1 Corinthians 1:20,21
"Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools." Romans 1:22 "By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen is not made out of what was visible." Hebrews 11:3(John 8:36)

What's Happening at CBC this weekend...

Sunday: ONE SERVICE 10:00AM. We are blessed to have Pastor James Amoako visiting from Ghana. Don't miss this Sunday!

September Sunday Service Schedule note...

1) This coming Sunday (Sept. 5) is the final 10AM service before changing back to two services.
2) Two service schedule will begin on Sept. 12. For three weeks (Sept. 12,19,26) the times will be 9 and 11AM.
3) Beginning Oct. 3, Truth for Life classes will begin (9:45AM) and service times will be the traditional 8:30 and 11:00AM.
EXPLANATION!! We continue to seek options to alleviate overcrowding of the 11:00 service. For three weeks (Sept. 12,19,26) we are going to experiment with moving the early service start time from 8:30 to 9:00AM to see if it succeeds in drawing more people to attend the early service (the 11:00AM service will meet as normal). On October 3 we will begin TFL classes (9:45AM) and resume the normal schedule of 8:30AM and 11:00AM services. We will then have time to pray and discuss possible future scheduling changes at the October congregational meeting.
