Over 50 women gathered at Calvary Bible Church on the morning of Saturday, June 12th for Calvary's 6th Annual Ladies Brunch. This year's speaker was Julia Freeman, who, along with her husband Rich, serves with Chosen People Ministries. Julia is the sister of Nancy Noto, who has been a part of the body at Calvary for many years. This year's brunch was different in that it was held at the church, instead of at the Yorktown Grange Hall. Thanks to the help of many people, chairs were moved, tables were set up and the church was transformed into a wonderful setting for the ladies to meet together for a time of fellowship, worship and teaching. The morning started off with a welcome and prayer for God's blessing on the day. The women enjoyed an assortment of delicious breakfast casseroles, bagels and pastries. Worship was then led by Charis Russell and Lisa Vera, who sang Everlasting God, Inside Out and Wonderful, Merciful Savior. With our hearts ready, we listened as Julia recounted the story of how she came to know Jesus as her Savior. She also gave an update on how Chosen People Ministries is reaching out to unsaved Jewish people. Finally, she encouraged the women as she shared principles from the book of Ruth. She reminded us that God's will will never take us where God's will will not sustain us and that it is better to travel with God into the unknown than to travel on our own and stumble and fall. The morning closed with a reminder that Romans 10:9 tells us "That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Jesus' death on the cross was the payment for our sins. He was buried and rose from the grave 3 days later, conquering both sin and death. When we come to know him as Savior, we can walk with Him and know that our lives are in His hands.
